Five Homes, Five Days:

North Collin County Habitat for Humanity to start blitz

for Five Families in McKinney Neighborhood

The blitz has ended as the five homes have been completed for these incredible familes.  The families include Alberto & Christina Gallardo, Jose & Mika Fernandez, Glenda Alons, Natalie Allen, and Detra Denson.  They are all very excited to move into their new homes.

On Friday, June 6, 2008, North Collin County Habitat for Humanity (NCCHFH) held a community wide dedication celebration at 6:00 p.m.  in McKinney ’s Charleston Creek neighborhood near Wattley Park .   Guests  included VP of Habitat International – Larry Gluth and special guests from the State of Texas and Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.

“This is such an exciting occasion for these five hardworking families,” said Nancy Adams, NCCHFH Board Member and Family Support Chair, “And we at Habitat are just thrilled and honored to be working with such incredible builders, sponsors and volunteers for this year’s massive Blitz Build event.”

In addition to the five homes, a sixth home will be dedicated that has been built by the Youth United Dream Team for the Carla Jones Family.

Professional home builders participating in the 2008 Blitz Build event are Darling Homes; David Weekley Homes; K. Hovnanian; GG Cain Custom Builders and Shannon Cain Construction; and STEP Builders with Dr. Jennifer Buchanan and M.J. Brown Distinctive Homes. These companies are donating thousands of dollars of materials and countless man hours to complete the five homes.

Other partners on the blitz and subdivision include: McKinney Community Development Corporation, Hanson Concrete, Overly Pools, Texas Inlets, Inc., KCK Utility Construction, Southwest Erosion, City of McKinney , Whirlpool Corporation, Kohler, Yale, Ferguson , Scheider Electric, Square D, DOW, Larson, Hunter Douglas, CertainTeed, Rinnai and Valspar.

The week-long Blitz Build, during which all five homes will be built from framing to finish, will take place May 31-June 7, 2008. The June 6 Blitz Build dedication ceremony will mark two important milestones for the organization: completion of the 50^th home by NCCHFH, and the 5001^st Habitat home in Texas .  For more information see our website at www.ncc-habitat.com.
